It’s Asus EEE PC 1000H for me

To end weeks of turmoil between my alter egos, I finally decided to give in to one of them and buy the Asus EEE PC 1000H. I got it last Saturday after an intense last-minute debate between two groups of my personalities.
ASUS EEE PC 1000H or MSI Wind or Lenovo Ideapad S10?
I was choosing between these three models, all of which sport a 10-inch screen. I’ve decided not to bother with the 9-inchers. I was already at the verge of buying the MSI Wind some weeks ago but I’m glad I decided to postpone the purchase. The ASUS 1000H appeared on the shelves and I was about to grab it when the Lenovo Ideapad S10 was announced. I decided to wait for the Lenovo because of the brand’s reputation, the sleeker design, and a possibly cheaper price, but when shipments were delayed for another month or so, I decided to go back to the ASUS.
Lenovo is off the list but why didn’t I go for the MSI Wind? Sure the MSI Wind looks better, weighs about 250g lighter, reportedly has better keyboard feedback, but the ASUS EEE PC 1000H has a clear advantage.
Advantage of ASUS EEE PC 1000H over the MSI Wind (roughly ordered by importance)
- Comes with longer lasting 6-cell batteries*
- Distinct left and right touchpad buttons
- Larger multi-touch pad
- Much better sound (Dolby Digital)
- Comes with a laptop bag
- Better built, screen not wobbly
- Less reflectivity of screen
- Better LCD viewing angles
- Better brightness controls
- More updated wireless capability
- Better brand
*MSI Wind also has 6-cell batteries which reportedly last longer but these are not widely available
After finally purchasing the ASUS EEE PC 1000H, I also have some disappointments but that will be another post.
