It’s been months since I started to want to replace my Pentax Optio S5Z. I’ve had it for more than 2 years now and in my disk I have almost 30,000 photos and videos taken by. It was a camera with good features and satisfactory image quality, but recently it’s photos have started to deteriorate. The camera repair shop told me there’s moisture on its sensor and fungi on the lens. They’re charging me P2,500 to clean it! I guess it’s time to get a new camera. Read the rest of this entry »
For a change, I just applied this 3-column Strong Black theme by Saroyama. Doesn’t look too bad right? I had to do a few tweakings to get it right. While it’s not perfect, I think I’ll stick with this for a while. Let me know if you encounter some annoying bugs!
I’m getting tired of this site’s theme. It’s starting to look too plain for me. Looking for a better one’s not that easy though. I might go for 3 columns. Any suggestions?

Since I got my Globe Tattoo (aka Visibility) kit, I’ve been frustrated over its automatic compression of images in every website I visit. I’m quite particular with photos and their quality so it was a major problem and I thought I was stuck with it as long as I use my Globe Tattoo unit.
It was only lately when I noticed something everytime I hover on a photo. A message appears “please wait 1 second(s) for an uncompressed image, or press Ctrl+F5 for original quality page”.
I tried it and it worked! All along I’ve been suffering from seeing blurry images everywhere and it’s only now that learned there’s an easy way out of it!
So if you want to see the original uncompressed image of a single photo, just hover your cursor over it for a while and it will reload automatically. If you want to see the all the photos in the entire page uncompressed, just hit Ctrl+F5 (check below for non-Firefox users).
See the difference in these crops from my Philippine Money blog. If you’re using Globe wireless broadband, make sure to first press Ctrl+F5 or you might now see the difference!

Uncompressed after hovering mouse on image for a while
Of course Globe is automatically compressing the photos we download in in its servers in order to give us a faster browsing experience. Now that we know of a way to opt for uncompressed images, it shouldn’t be too bad a strategy.
If you’re not using Mozilla Firefox, you might need a different key combination to opt for the original uncompressed images. I found these from LJDiaz.com.

If you will be in Iloilo City this coming Easter Sunday, April 12, let me invite you to our Easter Musical.
It will be about an hour of music with our choir singing eight pieces (42 pages of notes!) composed of various songs that revolve around the passion, the death, the resurrection of Jesus Christ, and the challenge that Christians must face.
This invitation is also extended to non-Christians and even aetheists. You can come just for the entertainnment. It’s free admission anyway. See you there at 5PM!

It was my birthday four days ago, April first. I’m not sure if it was a good idea to make a birthday post because that would be like greeting yourself. Yet I do think it appropriate for me to thank all those who greeted me personally, by SMS, and online. Thank you for remembering my birthday! I do feel a little guilty since I rarely greet others myself during their own birthdays.
I was not too keen on celebrating. I officially got older by a year and now, I’ll be a little less proud answering “How old/young are you?” questions. I remember the time I turned 10. I felt bad having to add another digit to my age. When I turned 20, I was unhappy of the fact I was no longer a teenager. Now I’m 23! We’ll, we don’t have a choice do we? If only we could be one of the lost boys who never grow old in Never Land. It’s just so much fun not being a grown-up.
Numbers aside, I have so much to thank for the past 1 year of my life. I could say with confidence that it was during the past year that I have rediscovered the true happiness that comes from the knowledge of what is truly important in this life. With that came a different kind of contentment, security, and a challenge. There is not much more I would want in this life other than tell other people about this happiness.
