Google officially launched the beta version of Picasa 3 today and it’s packed with super cool new features!
Most interesting among the new features is the face recognition technology that automatically groups similar faces together. I hope this will save me hours of looking for specific faces in my hundreds of folders! There’s also a new watermark feature, something I’ve been hoping Picasa would have. There’s also the Picasa Photo Viewer that lets you preview photos without having to totally open Picasa. The new release also carries a better integration with Picasa Web Albums that allows you to automatically sync changes. Of course there are new and better photo enhancing tools such as auto-retouch, auto-red eye correction. Improved movie, collage, and slideshow creation are also in the pack and there’s so much more!
I’ve been using Picasa for years now. These exciting new features in Picasa 3 are sure to add another dimension in my organization of the tens of thousands of photos in my computer. I’m downloading my copy to “get my hands dirty” with all the new features. You want your own copy too? Get it here, quick!

I don’t eat pork because I choose not to. It’s that simple. I’m not Islam nor do I have health restrictions and it’s not because of compassion for one of our closest relatives in the animal kingdom. I’ve been eating pork ever since, but one day I decided to stop and that was it.
To elaborate, the choice was made when I was in first year college when a friend, Mon, and I were learning the basics of pranic healing. I was making progress in sensitizing my hands when Mon told me that he read somewhere that eating pork releases enzymes into the body that inhibits a person’s ability to concentrate. It didn’t make sense to me on how pork could be any different from other forms of meat but I decided to stop eating pork anyway.

How would you feel if, while entering the largest mall in your city, you see posters at the main entrance bearing a particularly familiar photograph? It isn’t the main element of the poster, but seeing the little photo immediately brings flashes of memory that in a split-second lead you to realize – THAT PHOTO IS MINE!!!
I decided to go to SM City Iloilo this afternoon to try to buy some stuff. As I approached the entrance, a large poster caught my attention. Its title “1st Indigenous Fashion Market Week” made me feel glad of the continuing efforts to promote the local weaving industry. Then I spotted something eerily familiar.

Someone ripped off my photo!

Is the bird on the UP seal a parrot or an eagle?
For decades, students of the University of the Philippines (UP) have argued whether the bird on the UP seal is a parrot or an eagle. It seems like this trivial fact has been lost into the long hundred-year history of the university. It’s about time we settle this once and for all, but first let’s revisit some of the opposing reasons. Read the rest of this entry »

I have so many things and ideas to blog about but can’t seem to find the time. Maybe I should have bought that MSI Wind after all. Or perhaps the Asus EEE PC 1000? No. Maybe the Lenovo IdeaPad S10 instead.

Since last night, I’ve been desperately trying to fix some issues with the layout of this blog without any success. Now I realize the problem is with my internet service provider.
I’ve been trying to fix the wrongly-displaying captions of the MistyLook theme by implementing corrections provided in the support forum. When I update the CSS code in the Wordpress Theme Editor, it show that it has been modified, but when I view the blog itself, nothing seems to change! Read the rest of this entry »

In blogging terms, an aside is some sort of mini-post. This post is an aside. It’s not worthy of the same large titles as the other longer posts, but it still deserves to appear on my blog homepage. Writing a full post is time consuming sometimes we end up not writing it at all. An aside is the answer!

Last week, UP Visayas celebrated its 61st year of presence in Iloilo and since it was also the Centennial of the University of the Philippines, everyone tried to make the events extra special. While I tried to attend (and photograph) as many of the events as I can, this also took a lot of extra effort shuttling between my work in Tigbauan and the events held in both the Miagao and Iloilo City campuses of UPV. After configuring this blog, I initially ignored the Aksimet plugin thinking I wouldn’t be getting any spam yet since I’ve hardly linked up my blog nor posted many articles to merit the attention of the spam bots. WRONG!

I’ve been waiting for this, but now that it’s here I don’t know what to do.
I was stunned when I finally saw the MSI Wind sub-notebook available in a local computer store. Concept Computers Iloilo is now selling the MSI Wind and I’m having a hard time restraining myself from buying it!

Last night we received news that a private dormitory near the University of the Philippines Visayas Tacloban College (UPVTC) was razed by a fire leaving 84 UPVTC students without clothes and school materials. The rest of their provisions were also said to have completely burned.
