Smart Bro is now (or soon) offering an Unlisurf Package that lets you surf all you want for 5 days for only P200. Take note: this is unlimited internet surfing on your computer and not just on your mobile phone. YAY!
I just saw the new Smart Bro Unli Surf option appear under the Data Packages of the recently updated Smart Bro Web Connect website. However, when I try the option, I get a “Sorry for the inconvenience. Service is unavailable at this time. Pls try again later.” It’s either because I don’t have P200 in my load or because I’m still registered to per-minute packages, or the promo hasn’t been activated yet. Nevertheless, I really hope Smart would offer this as a regular package and not just as a promo. I think it is just such a good deal. If you register 5 times in a month, that would be only P1000 for mobile broadband that can reach 2Mbps!
You might ask, how about Smart’s P999 a month Unlimited Plan? What’s the advantage of having Smart Bro Prepaid over Smart Bro Plans? I’ve been holding off on getting Smart Bro Plans primarily because of their 2-year lock-in period. Their terms stipulate that if you pre-terminate your plan, you still have to pay the monthly service fees up until the 2nd year of your plan. With the pace of technological development, 2 years is just too long! Who knows what better mobile broadband options will come out in just a matter of 6 months? I believe staying prepaid allows one the felxibility of switching to another mobile broadband provider or availing of a better technology in case the one you currently have begins to dissatisfy you.
Now, I can’t wait to register for the P200 Smart Bro Unlimited Surfing! I’m tired of periodically subscribing to per-minute packages and disconnecting and reconnecting everytime I don’t need an active connection such as when writing an email or reading forums. I can finally work on my websites and blogs without being conscious of every second. Ahhh.. don’t we consumers just love competition?
I’ve had my Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS1 (aka TZ6) for over 40 days now. I will be giving my impressions here for the benefit of those who are considering to buy this product. As early as now, I want to let you know that this digital camera is very much excellent! Read on for the rest of my review. Read the rest of this entry »

Since I got my Globe Tattoo (aka Visibility) kit, I’ve been frustrated over its automatic compression of images in every website I visit. I’m quite particular with photos and their quality so it was a major problem and I thought I was stuck with it as long as I use my Globe Tattoo unit.
It was only lately when I noticed something everytime I hover on a photo. A message appears “please wait 1 second(s) for an uncompressed image, or press Ctrl+F5 for original quality page”.
I tried it and it worked! All along I’ve been suffering from seeing blurry images everywhere and it’s only now that learned there’s an easy way out of it!
So if you want to see the original uncompressed image of a single photo, just hover your cursor over it for a while and it will reload automatically. If you want to see the all the photos in the entire page uncompressed, just hit Ctrl+F5 (check below for non-Firefox users).
See the difference in these crops from my Philippine Money blog. If you’re using Globe wireless broadband, make sure to first press Ctrl+F5 or you might now see the difference!

Uncompressed after hovering mouse on image for a while
Of course Globe is automatically compressing the photos we download in in its servers in order to give us a faster browsing experience. Now that we know of a way to opt for uncompressed images, it shouldn’t be too bad a strategy.
If you’re not using Mozilla Firefox, you might need a different key combination to opt for the original uncompressed images. I found these from LJDiaz.com.

Things like this need to happen. We say goodbye to the old and hello to the new. First, allow me to mourn over my old friend.
I was really saddened when I knew that my loyal phone for the past 4 years is beyond repair. My good old Nokia 3200 has served me very well, especially with its LED flashlight which was of utmost use to me in countless occasions. There is none like it, especially with its personalized casing design which never failed to receive remarks.

I took this oblation photo myself and put it on the back cover.

just got myself the Globe “Tattoo” wireless prepaid broadband kit. I finally convinced myself to shed out P1,895 after I realized I will save myself much trouble by just buying it. Smart only has GPRS signal itan my area so I need to give up on buying the Smart Bro Plug It.
The Globe Tatoo prepaid kit
The kit comes with the Huawei HSDPA USB stick, a Globe SIM card, a USB cord (if you need to hang the stick outside your window?), and a generic manual for the USB stick. Read the rest of this entry »

It’s been a little more than a week since I’ve bought my Asus EEE PC 1000H. Before the new-laptop smell totally fades away, I’m going to give my first 7-day impressions of this notebook. Allow me to focus on the problems because there are lots of pros out there already. Here they are in descending Read the rest of this entry »

To end weeks of turmoil between my alter egos, I finally decided to give in to one of them and buy the Asus EEE PC 1000H. I got it last Saturday after an intense last-minute debate between two groups of my personalities.
ASUS EEE PC 1000H or MSI Wind or Lenovo Ideapad S10?
I was choosing between these three models, all of which sport a 10-inch screen. I’ve decided not to bother with Read the rest of this entry »
I have so many things and ideas to blog about but can’t seem to find the time. Maybe I should have bought that MSI Wind after all. Or perhaps the Asus EEE PC 1000? No. Maybe the Lenovo IdeaPad S10 instead.

I’ve been waiting for this, but now that it’s here I don’t know what to do.
I was stunned when I finally saw the MSI Wind sub-notebook available in a local computer store. Concept Computers Iloilo is now selling the MSI Wind and I’m having a hard time restraining myself from buying it!
